I kind of like this outfit. It makes me feel less pudgy. 🙂 I should wear it more often.
On another note, I wasn’t exactly shopping just now, I merely walked past the shoes department. Are you convinced? Hmm… Neither am I. I got a pair of shoes. I’m excited because I’ve been looking high and low for a pair of tan loafers. But nothing quite fit the look I was going for until I saw the pair I bought. You will see it soon.

I sewed this top by altering a vintage pattern. Initially I had some difficulty because of the neckline and armholes and also because the fabric is slippery and not exactly beginners friendly. I’ve been sewing over a year now but can hardly call myself an intermediate sew-er since my methods can be quite unorthodox. I use bias tape facing to finish the neckline and armholes. Realized that to minimize puckers and unsightly folds, it might be best to make your own bias tape that is thinner. The closer you sew to the edge of the neckline/armholes, the neater it is. For this top, the width of the facing that’s visible on the inside of the garment is approximately 1/4′ thick. By the way, this top probably cost me less than SGD$5 to make!
I’m probably going to try next the sorbetto tank pattern that you can download free from here. For more Sorbetto top versions inspiration, you should visit Sew Weekly. I need to make a trip to get the orange polyester fabric I saw at Spotlight!! That would make a fine Sorbetto top!

How long/ many times do you wear your jeans before you wash them? I used to wear them for a month ( or two) until my roomie/sister complained that it stank. Oops. Jeans are meant to be worn this way, no? I wash them more often now though because of a certain grubby little boy who likes to wipe his hands on my jeans/ blouse/ face. I think babies are dangerous. My nose is badly scratched, my eye was nearly blinded ( several times), I have bruises all over , I get pinched and punched everyday. I have had remote controls, hard board books and phones thrown at my face. Why didn’t anybody tell me I need to wear protective suit when handling a toddler? Nobody warned me a baby can be this destructive. I think I need my husband’s riding helmet too.

Polka dot tank June 4, 2011
I went to Spotlight yesterday and came across this polka dot fabric in cotton satin. It was soft to touch, immediately j knew what to do with it. Ta-da!! It’s s b***h to sew though. I’m hopeless in handling soft fabric, the curved hem looks terrible close up.. So don’t look too hard. The shoulder part is a little too wide too.
And..I’m proooobbbabllly going to include this in the 30 for 30 challenge. I’m already playing dress up in my head. Woot!
