Bangkok is one of my favourite country to go when I want a short fuss free break. What’s there not to like? The food is cheap and good, massages everyday, shopping everyday! It’s a shopper’s paradise! This is my loot for the trip. 20121015-151257.jpg20121015-151316.jpg
A pretty chevron sheath top (200baht) with exposed zip at the back, denim shorts and more shorts for the eternal summer days at home. As you can tell, I got a little carried away with mustard shorts. Wanted an orange pair but didn’t manage to get one. The shorts cost between 200 and 250 baht ( about USD6.50 ) each and really mix well with my existing wardrobe. 20121015-151812.jpg20121015-151822.jpg20121015-151902.jpg

The red an white stripe top cost 200baht too. But the icing on the cake is the camouflage jacket. It is the exact one that you see in Zara this season. Likely to a reject for some minor manufacturing fault but honestly, I cannot see anything wrong with it. This is the jacket ( left) as shown on the Zara website

20121015-152459.jpg. It cost me 800 baht. That’s USD26. I later found another shop at Platinium Mall selling it for 650baht ( USD21). It’s selling for USD105 in Zara stores.. I about died when I finally got the jacket. SoooOooooo happy!! Heehee.

It was a tunic/ short short dress, then I chopped off the top and made it a skirt. But I hardly wear skirts nowadays , so I cut it up once again and made it into a pair of shorts instead. There isn’t enough cloth for the back pattern so I joined a piece of rectangle at the crotch which I thought is fine since it isn’t visible.

The pattern is actually from modified from a store bought pattern. You can draft your own easily by tracing from an existing pair of shorts.

The New Year Day’s outfit was inspired by something Zoe from Haiku Ambulance wore. Here’s Zoe’s outfit.

Don’t you just hate my legs? The outfit is pretty similar but damn the legs. I’m so happy Zoe’s back to blogging after 7 months away. Yippee! I totally dig her style!

So red my eyes hurt September 3, 2011

I ended up wearing my grey Mango grandad T shirt with it but was too lazy to take photos. The shorts are really bright red. It really hurt my eyes when I had to look at it for extended period while sewing it. I got the fabric from a friend who was destashing. I want to make the shorts in black (duh..) but thought I’ll try out the ‘muslin’ piece using this red fabric first. Turns out it looks decent enough to be worn. I’m happy because I finally figure out how to sew a buttonhole. Yeah!!!

Remember the jeans I thrifted? I snipped them off to make denim shorts for my eternal summer days.

It’s not completely done yet. I’m waiting for my next trip to the craft shop to get a nautical themed button for it. The brown plastic button is an eyesore really.

A bit more work for this pair, the jeans was oversized, so I had to raise the crotch as well. I quite like the lace detail and scalloped edge.
